I never call any tradesmen because of the leaflets they put through the door, but I called Martin Lewis after I received his leaflet and checked his website. I have to say I am so glad that I did and what a fantastic and talented decorator he is.

At the beginning of this year, I planned to continue to update my house, changing the large and empty dinning room into a library, and brightening up the dark hall. I then had a good local decorator already who painted my lounge just before Christmas, but I wanted to find a more talented decorator who has more skills than just painting, to save myself from coordinating various tradesmen (which I had to for my lounge.) After a long while searching and checking, I managed to find a very rare gem - Martin Lewis, who recently relocated to my area (Fleet, Hampshire). 

The work I wanted to get done is complex - I wanted to take off all the eighties Laura Ashley wallpaper from my dinning room,  hall and tall ceilinged landing area, and then paint all the walls & woodwork including 12 internal doors; secondly I needed to remove all the carpets in the dinning room & hall, striping the mahogany & pine floors beneath the carpet and sand them up and vanish them; I also wanted to build floor to ceiling book shelves on an entire wall in the dinning room, to make it a beautiful library; and finally I wanted to strip off the old vanish on the front oak door and revarnish it.

In May, Martin undertook all above work in great confidence and managed to finish all the work within my tight deadline. I found him such a pleasure to work with - he is approachable, always happy and optimistic; keeping all the areas he worked in tidy and clean (I have to say I have a bit OCD on cleanliness). He is conscientious towards his work, taking pride in everything he does; and he works very hard, working through weekends trying to achieve my deadline. He also has great knowledge in decorating, giving me sound and valuable advice in paint & building the bespoke library. He worked extremely hard on stripping the wooden floors and in the end the floors' true beauty shines through so amazingly. He is reliable, trustworthy and his quality of work is second to none (again I have a bit OCD, a tendency towards perfectionism on quality). His price is also very reasonable. really value for money (I have paid a lot more for much less good work in the past.)

So overall, I am very happy with Martin's work and will definitely use him again. I would also whole heartily recommend his work as a true gem deserves his shining place.
